Occasionally one stumbles over a book without expectations and suddenly finds a small gem, and wonders how it can have gone unnoticed so long. That was what happened, as to a lot of people, to the absent-minded king of an absent-minded nation —upon a time I cannot remember— when he read the Bible.
Anyone who had read common literature will be familiar with this influential —to say the least— partially Jewish, partially Christian book , usually found in hotels.
The problem was that this work had not ever been printed there until then, when he occasionally got it from a traveler he had sentenced to death.
The book catched his entire attention, and made the king put his daily work off to upcoming days, to stay in bed absolutely concentrated in joyful though entangled reading.
The book was good, but God was the real deal.
The Guy had written, not only for contemporary readers, but for the posterity in which He probably felt He will be famous.
It was difficult to categorize Him on the basis of just a few apparitions in History, but His beautifully crafted stories, some only a paragraph or a line in length, were a revelation; His humor was on target and sharp, His inventions clever, His philosophy —almost a Theology— profound and generous.
“All in all: quite brilliant”, the king said.
“He is highly recommended”, he stated.
A master of details, succinct and profound, thought-provoking, this author seemed to the king one of the finer discoveries made in years; thus, he ruled laws to the obligatory reading of God’s book in schools and even in colleges.
It was a hit.
The king and his people lived happy and peacefuly forever, and they eventually found in the book reasons to punish some disturbing individuals, a fierce defense of army and an apology of war, and a magnificent justification for the monarchy.
